Throwing the Ultimate Summer Party
Whether you’re on the beach or in your own backyard, summertime is party time. This year, we’re throwing the ultimate summer party and think you should too. In? Grab a cold one, slip into your favorite BB leggings or swim suit, and let’s get planning.
Beachside and Poolside
Beach parties are all about soaking up the sun, sandy bums, and salt-stained skin. Oh, and showing off your favorite new suit. The best part? They don’t require that much planning or setting up, and they make for the best photo ops.
No beach near you? No problem. This party plan works for pool parties too—don’t forget the floaties!
Where: Your favorite beach—preferably somewhere sans kids that allows dogs (because, obvi). Lots of open space: think picnic tables, umbrellas, and grills. PS: Make sure it’s a public beach or that you have permission…we don’t want any trouble.
When: Weekend. Beach parties can should go all day, so Saturdays work best.
How: Like all good parties, you’ll need to plan a little bit. Keep things simple with cute invites (Facebook works too!), finger foods, and BYOB. Pack these necessities:
- Beach towels
- Sunscreen
- Coolers with ice
- Change of clothes
- Sandals
- Frisbees, volleyballs, and other games
Food and Drink: Hydration is key when spending hours in the sun. Beat the heat by packing plenty of water along with your favorite cocktails. And don’t forget the food. Keep things light and fresh and ask your guests to bring their favorite meat for grilling—this ensures everyone gets what they want and saves you a little cash. What’s in our cooler:
- Sliced watermelon
- Frozen grapes
- Cheese and crackers
- Chips, salsa, and guac
- Snack mix
- S’mores
- Bravazzi Hard Italian Soda
- Citrus beer
- Mojitos and Mules
Itinerary: Don’t overcomplicate things. Keep the schedule flexible and let the party flow. A few key activities are:
- Food: If you’re grilling or providing food, make sure people know what and when.
- Games: Show up early and set out any beach games you’ve got. When people arrive, they’ll know what to do.
- Bonfire: Taking the party well into the night? Let people know ahead of time so they can bring chairs and comfy clothes to hang out in.
What to wear: Count on snapping plenty of pics with your bold babes to document your epic beach party—and do it in style with the following fits.
For hanging out: Nauti Girl Dress
For diving in: Whale Hello There Suit
For him: You’re Flamazing Shorts
Throw it all together and you’ve got the beach party of the century. And don’t forget to send our invite—we’ll be waiting.
Lu’au in the City
If you’re a city dweller and don’t live near the coast, we’ve got a plan for you too. Summer parties don’t require sand and salt—unless it’s a salty rim of course—all you need is the sun, ice cold drinks, your favorite gals, and a super cute outfit. Oh, and a ticket to Hawaii.
Where: Your backyard, patio, or anywhere with enough room.
When: After-hours or on the weekend.
How: Themed summer parties are the best excuse to get creative and have a blast. Our favorite? Tiki party, hands down.
It all starts with the right vibe. Make sure your lu’au has plenty of bright colors, leis, tiki torches, Hawaiian music, and ice cold drinks. If you’re feeling extra creative, make (or buy) a tiki bar to serve drinks from.
Send out invitations that look like plane tickets (to Hawaii of course) and provide each guest with their own lei. Ask everyone to wear Hawaiian shirts or an outfit that makes them feel tropical.
Decorations: We encourage you to go all out—because theme parties are way better that way. Some decoration options are:
- Bamboo placemats
- Flower arrangements with orchids, hibiscus, and other tropical flowers
- Seashells
- Palm trees or leaves
- Real flower leis
- Plastic hula dancers
- Surfboards
- Paper drink umbrellas
- Colorful tropical tablecloths, napkins and party goods
Food and Drink: Think tropical paradise meets the simplicity of finger food. Keep your lu’au delicious yet easy by serving the following foods and drinks:
- Pork or ham with fresh pineapple
- Hawaiian fried rice
- Fruit salsa and chips
- Steak or shrimp tacos
- Fresh mango
- Mai Tai
- Piña Colada
- Blue Hawaiian
- Coconut lemonade
Itinerary: You’re on island time baby—kick back and relax—no plan necessary. There are only 2 things your tiki party absolutely needs:
- Hawaiian music and a place to dance
- Delicious food and ice cold drinks
What to wear: Dressing up is one of the best parts of tiki parties! Grab your most tropical outfit and throw a grass skirt and lei over top to complete the look. Not seeing much in your closet? We’ve got you covered:
For hula: Keep Palm Party Dress
For taking a dip: Mighty Fine Pineapple Suit
For him: Pink Piña Shorts
Transport your guests to a tropical oasis by throwing a festive lu’ua party in your own backyard. Next week is taco party… you in?
